How to do an EN ISO 9606 certification
Before the certification
During certification
The examiner meets at the agreed time with the requester.
The examiner hands out Weldadvice Cert's certification leaflet.
The examiner notes the name of the candidate, sees the identification and takes a photo of the candidate.
The examiner reviews the conditions for the certification.
The examiner checks the batch number and dimensions of the test materials.
The candidate tacks the welding test.
The examiner marks the test.
The bottom string is performed with start/stop at the center and then checked by the examiner.
The welding test is completed with start/stop in the cap layer(s).
The examiner watches the process and checks that the welding procedure is followed.
After the certification
The examiner visually assesses the completed test and accepts or rejects the test.
If the sample is accepted, it must then be tested destructively DT or non destructively with NDT.
NDT may be carried out by a subsupplier approved by Weldadvice.
Alternatively, if possible, the examiner may take the tests for further testing.
An examiner appointed by the Weldadvice CERT assesses the overall test.
Weldadvice CERT issues certificates on approved tests.
The examiner PED approves the certificates issued if desired.
The approved certificates are sent to the requester by mail and e-mail.
Before the certification
Same procedure as for EN ISO 9606-1 certificates
During certification
Same procedure as for EN ISO 9606-1 certificates sections 8-14.
The examiner marks the test.
The root layer is performed at the start/stop at the center and is then checked by the examiner.
The welding test is completed with start/stop in the cap string(s).
The examiner watches the process and checks that the welding procedure is followed.
The examiner assesses the results of the examination in practical knowledge as well as the final exam visually.
The examiner takes photos of the relevant equipment laid down on the certificate as identification of the certificate's validity and notes the specific equipment and characteristics of the welding unit.
After the certification
If the test is accepted, it must then be tested destructively (DT) or not destructively with NDT according to the chosen qualification method.
NDT may be carried out at a subsupplier approved by Weldadvice.
Applicants with special needs may request to have these accommodated before the test.
Retest
If the acceptance criteria are met, the welder can make a new test without further training
Test in Jobknowledge
This test is not compulsory. If the test is chosen, it must be passed to obtain certification and will appear on the certificate. The test can be taken in one of the following ways:

The welder must be re-tested every 3 years.
Alternatively, the qualification can be extended every two years if 2 welds made within six months before the expiry are tested and passed with the original NDT requirements. The tests shall reproduce the original test conditions with the exception of thickness and outside diameter.
Certificates issued by Weldadvice CERT can only be validated by Weldadvice CERT.
6 Month Verification
Every six months, the validity of the certificate must be verified by, for example, the employer's welding coordinator.

Production sample / production sample (tested according to the requirements of EN ISO 9606)
The method is freely chosen by the requester, taking into account the current situation.
Examination in Practical knowledge
Compulsory for all methods and covers the following main areas:
Welding order / procedure
Grouting and welding description
Welding Errors
The scope of the qualification
Functional testing
Scope / validation
The qualification is valid from the date of the test if the test is passed.
The certificate must be verified every six months for continued validity.
The welder must be re-tested every 6 years.
